MyPaint has been recently updated. The latest version is MyPaint 1.0.0. For those of you who do not know what MyPaint is, below is the brief explanation:
"An open source graphics application for digital painters. It has unlimited canvas, a simple interface, basic layer support, extensive brush creation, and more. It is available for both Windows and Linux."
In this last version, you will get:
- Floating tool windows can now be docked into a sidebar inside the main window.
- In the brushstrokes tool, a “Lock Alpha” mode has been added and there are now some basic layer compositing modes.
- A new configurable toolbar with dropdown widget for colour, brush settings, and brush.
- Improvement in speed, user interface, and new brush collections have been added.
Here’s how to install:
Open Terminal, and type in the commands below:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:achadwick/mypaint-testing
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install mypaint
Unfortunately, the only PPA you can use to install the latest MyPaint is the MyPaint development PPA. For addition information, this isn't a stable PPA and may be can make MyPaint stop working after an update if a bug gets through.
For Windows OS users and other Linux distro, please see the MyPaint download page.
