Since some months ago, Oracle JDK was removed from Ubuntu repository and it doesn’t be hosted in the PPA. The removal is due to the new license.
If you want to use Oracle Java instead of OpenJDK Java Runtime in Ubuntu. You can use private PPAs that provide installer to automatically download Oracle Java JDK 7 from its official website and install it on your computer.
Note: These PPA may or may not work, use it at your own risk!
Open your Ubuntu Terminal and remove OpenJDK first:
sudo apt-get purge openjdk*Install Oracle Java (JDK) 7 in Ubuntu 10.04/10.10/11.04/11.10/12.04, previously you should add ppa:eugenesan/java:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:eugenesan/javaWebupd8 Team also built a PPA for the installer which includes JRE and the Java browser plugin
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install oracle-java7-installer
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:webupd8team/javaMake sure your java is running well, chekc it in the Dash and in Java Control Panel:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install oracle-java7-installer
